Last updated: 22 July 2026. This policy explains how Laois Pharmacy collects, uses and protects your personal information.

Laois Pharmacy (“we”, “us”), 1 Dunamaise House, Lyster Square, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, R32 HD72, is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Acts. As a pharmacy, we also handle certain information under strict professional and legal confidentiality obligations.

Who is responsible for your data

Laois Pharmacy is the data controller for the personal information collected through this website and in our pharmacy. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at info@laoispharmacy.com or 057 866 1999.

What information we collect

  • Order and account information — your name, delivery address, email, phone number and order history when you shop online.
  • Payment information — processed securely by our payment provider. We do not store your full card details.
  • Enquiries and messages — information you provide when you contact us by phone, email, WhatsApp or through a form on this site.
  • Health and prescription information — where you use our pharmacy services (for example a prescription, a consultation, or a message about a medicine). This is treated as special category data and handled with the highest level of confidentiality by our pharmacists.
  • Website usage data — anonymous statistics about how the site is used (pages viewed, device type), collected only with your consent via cookies.

How we use your information

  • To process and deliver your orders and provide our pharmacy services.
  • To respond to your enquiries and provide advice.
  • To meet our legal and professional obligations as a registered pharmacy.
  • To improve our website and services (using anonymous, consent-based analytics).
  • To send you information you have asked for, such as order updates. We only send marketing messages if you have opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Legal basis for processing

We process your data on the basis of: performing our contract with you (fulfilling orders); your consent (analytics and marketing); our legal obligations (pharmacy and tax law); and, for health data, the provision of healthcare by a regulated professional.

Cookies and website analytics

This website uses cookies. Essential cookies keep the site and your basket working. With your consent, we also use analytics and marketing cookies — including Google Analytics, and pixels from Google, Meta (Facebook) and TikTok — to understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising. You choose whether to allow these when you first visit, using our cookie banner, and you can change your mind at any time by clearing your browser cookies. No personal health information is ever collected through cookies or analytics.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary with: delivery partners (to fulfil orders), our payment processor, the HSE and PCRS where required for prescription reimbursement, and service providers who help run our website — all under appropriate data-protection agreements. We may disclose information where legally required.

How long we keep it

We keep order and transaction records for as long as required by law (including the 2-year retention required for internet medicine supply, and longer where tax or pharmacy law requires). Prescription and healthcare records are retained in line with pharmacy regulations. We do not keep your data longer than necessary.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to: access the data we hold about you; have inaccurate data corrected; request erasure (where no legal obligation requires us to keep it); restrict or object to certain processing; and data portability. To exercise any of these, contact us at info@laoispharmacy.com.

Making a complaint: If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can contact the Irish Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie. We would always prefer the chance to put things right first, so please do talk to us.

Security

This website uses secure (HTTPS) encryption. We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, and our pharmacy team is bound by professional confidentiality.
