2. Using our website
- You must be 18 or over to buy from this website.
- The information on our website is general health information. It does not replace advice from your doctor or pharmacist. Always read the label and the leaflet that comes with a product. If you are not sure a product is right for you, ask our pharmacist before you buy.
- We take care to describe and show our products accurately. Manufacturers sometimes change their packaging, so an item may look slightly different from the photo.
- Please give accurate details when you order and keep your account password private. We may cancel an order or close an account if we reasonably believe it is being used for fraud or misuse. If we cancel an order, we refund you in full.
- The text, photos and design on this website belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. Please do not copy them for commercial use without our written permission.
3. Medicines: how our pharmacist checks your order
We supply medicines with care and in line with the law. For every order that contains a medicine:
- A registered pharmacist personally reviews and approves the order before we send it.
- We check that you are 18 or over, that you know how to use the medicine as described on the pack and in the leaflet, and that the amount is reasonable for your own treatment.
- Our pharmacist may contact you with questions, or ask you to complete a short questionnaire.
- We may limit how many packs of some medicines you can buy, in one order or over time. This applies in particular to painkillers, laxatives and antihistamines.
- Our pharmacist may decline to supply a medicine if they think it is not suitable for you, or if the request does not seem appropriate. If this happens, we will tell you and refund that item in full. If we cannot send anything from your order, we also refund the delivery charge.
- We only supply medicines that are authorised for sale in Ireland.
- As the law requires, we keep a record of each sale of a medicine through this website for two years from the date of the sale.
4. Prescription medicines
- Irish law does not allow prescription-only medicines to be sold online. You cannot buy them through our online shop.
- If you have a valid prescription, we dispense it in our pharmacy in Portlaoise. Your doctor can send your prescription straight to us by Healthmail.
- Our pharmacist reviews every prescription before it is dispensed and contacts you to go through how to use and store your medicine.
- You can collect your prescription medicines from the pharmacy and pay when you collect.
- You can also ask us to deliver your prescription medicines to an address in the Republic of Ireland. Our pharmacist decides each time whether delivery is suitable for you.
- Prescription medicines that must be kept in a fridge go by tracked, temperature-controlled (cold-chain) courier. Delivery costs €10. They usually arrive within 24 to 48 hours of dispatch. If items from our shop go in the same parcel, delivery is €10 in total, not €6 plus €10. Put fridge medicines in the fridge as soon as they arrive.
- We can also deliver prescription medicines that do not need a fridge. Contact us to arrange it, on WhatsApp 085 840 7548 or by phone on 057 866 1999. We will tell you the cost and timing before we send them.
- We only take payment for a prescription delivery after our pharmacist has checked your prescription and contacted you.
- A prescription delivery is sent in sealed, discreet packaging and must be signed for by you or someone you name. The courier will not leave it unattended. If no one is in, the courier brings it back or rearranges delivery.
- We deliver Monday to Saturday. When your parcel leaves our pharmacy, we email you with your tracking details.
- Prescription medicines are supplied as part of a healthcare service, so the 14-day right to cancel does not apply to them. Once a prescription medicine has left our pharmacy, we cannot take it back or refund it unless it is faulty or we sent it in error. If you change your mind before it leaves our pharmacy, tell us and we will refund you in full.
5. Placing an order
How to order
- Add the items you want to your basket.
- Open your basket to check the items and quantities. You can change or remove items there.
- At checkout, enter your details, your delivery address and your payment method.
- Check the order summary before you pay. You can go back and correct any mistakes at this stage.
- Press the final button to place your order. Pressing it means you agree to pay.
Orders are made in English.
When our contract with you starts
After you place your order, we send you an email to say we have received it. This email confirms your order details. It does not yet mean we have accepted your order.
Our contract with you starts when we send you an email to say your order has been dispatched. We keep a copy of your order. You can find it in the order emails we send you and, if you have an account, in My Account.
If we cannot accept your order
We may not accept an order, or part of an order, if:
- an item is out of stock;
- there is an error in the price or description of an item;
- our pharmacist decides a medicine is not suitable for you, or the amount is more than is reasonable for your own treatment;
- we cannot verify your details or your payment; or
- the delivery address is outside the Republic of Ireland.
If this happens, we will tell you and refund what you paid for the items we cannot send. We do this without delay and always within 14 days.
6. Prices and VAT
- All prices are in euro (€) and include VAT where VAT applies.
- The delivery charge is shown in your basket and at checkout before you pay.
- We do not charge any extra fee for paying by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal.
- You pay the price shown when you place your order. We will not increase the price of an order after you have placed it.
- Prices and offers on our website can change. Changes do not affect orders already placed.
If we make a pricing mistake
We check our prices carefully, but mistakes can happen. If we find an error in the price of an item you have ordered:
- if the correct price is lower, we will charge you the lower price;
- if the correct price is higher, we will contact you before we dispatch the item. You can choose to go ahead at the correct price or cancel. If you cancel, we refund you in full.
7. Payment
- We accept Visa, Mastercard and other cards, processed by Stripe. We also accept Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal.
- We take payment when you place your order.
- Your card details go directly to our payment providers. We do not see or store your full card number.
- Prescription items are not sold through our online shop. See section 4.
8. Delivery
- We deliver to addresses in the Republic of Ireland only.
- Delivery costs €6 per order, anywhere in the Republic of Ireland. It is one flat price, with no minimum order.
- We pack your order in our Portlaoise pharmacy, usually within 1 working day.
- Please allow 2 to 5 working days for delivery. We deliver Monday to Saturday. Working days are Monday to Saturday, not including bank holidays. There are no deliveries on Sundays or bank holidays.
- When your order leaves our pharmacy, we email you to say it has been dispatched. This email includes your tracking details.
- For prescription medicines, see section 4.
- We handle every order with discretion.
Our Delivery page has full details.
Delivery times and delays
We aim to deliver within the times above. Unless we agree a different date with you, we will deliver within 30 days of the day you place your order. If there is a delay, we will tell you as soon as we can.
If we do not deliver on time, you can ask us to deliver within a reasonable extra period. If we still do not deliver, you can cancel your order and we will refund you in full, including delivery. If you told us before you ordered that delivery by a certain date was essential, and we miss that date, you can cancel straight away.
If we cannot deliver an item at all, for example because it is no longer available, we will tell you and refund you in full. We refund to your original payment method. We do not give credit notes instead of refunds.
Lost or damaged parcels
Your order is our responsibility until it reaches you, or someone you have asked to receive it. If your order is lost or damaged on the way, we will send a replacement or refund you in full.
If your order has not arrived 5 working days after we dispatched it, please contact us with your order number. If an item arrives damaged, please tell us as soon as you can and send a photo if possible. This helps us sort it out quickly. It does not limit your legal rights.
Please check your delivery address carefully. If a parcel cannot be delivered and comes back to us, we will contact you to agree what happens next.
9. Your right to change your mind
For most items you buy on our website, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days without giving a reason. Some items are not covered, as explained below. Our Returns and Refunds Policy explains the steps in plain terms.
The quickest way to cancel is our online form: Cancel contract here.
Right to cancel
You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the goods. If your order arrives in more than one delivery, the cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last of the goods.
To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us (Laois Pharmacy, Street Vale Limited, 1 Dunamaise House, Lyster Square, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, R32 HD72, phone 057 866 1999, email info@laoispharmacy.com) of your decision to cancel this contract by an unequivocal statement, for example an email, a WhatsApp message to 085 840 7548, or a letter sent by post. You can also phone us, and we will confirm your cancellation by email. You may use the model cancellation form at the end of these terms, but it is not obligatory. You can also exercise your right of cancellation online at https://laoispharmacy.com/cancel-order/. If you use this online feature, we will send you an acknowledgement of receipt of the cancellation on a durable medium (e.g. by email), including its content and the date and time of its submission, without undue delay.
To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.
Effects of cancellation
If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (with the exception of the supplementary costs resulting from your choice of a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us), without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which we are informed of your decision to cancel this contract. We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having returned the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to us at our pharmacy, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your cancellation of this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired.
You will bear the direct cost of returning the goods.
You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling of the goods beyond that necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning.
When the right to cancel does not apply
- Sealed items that are not suitable for return for health protection and hygiene reasons, once you have unsealed them after delivery. Examples include cosmetics, skincare, toiletries, toothbrushes, ear and intimate care products, and pregnancy or ovulation tests.
- Items that can deteriorate or expire rapidly.
- Medicines, including non-prescription medicines, once they have left our pharmacy. Our pharmacist reviews and approves every medicine we supply, so medicines are supplied as part of a healthcare service. Medicines that come back to a pharmacy can never be supplied again and must be destroyed.
- Prescription medicines (see section 4).
You can still cancel any item, including a medicine, before we dispatch it. Contact us as soon as possible and we will refund you in full. None of this affects your rights if an item is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered (see section 10).
10. Faulty, damaged or wrong items
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2022, the items we sell must match their description, be fit for purpose and be of the quality you can reasonably expect. We are legally responsible for supplying items that conform with your contract. This is your legal guarantee of conformity. It lasts for at least two years from delivery, and under Irish law (section 11(1) of the Statute of Limitations 1957) you may have up to six years from delivery to make a claim. The official EU notice on your legal guarantee is at the end of this section.
If an item is faulty, damaged or not what you ordered:
- Contact us as soon as you can with your order number. A photo helps.
- We pay the cost of sending it back. We will tell you how to return it, or refund your reasonable postage costs.
- Within 30 days of delivery, you can ask for a full refund. For items that would normally expire or go off in less than 30 days, this period is shorter.
- After that, you can choose a repair or a replacement, at no cost to you. If that does not put things right, you are entitled to a price reduction or a refund.
- If you are due a full refund, we refund the price of the item and your return postage. If your whole order was faulty or wrong, we also refund the original delivery charge. We refund to your original payment method within 14 days of receiving the item back, or proof that you have sent it.
Please do not use a medicine you think is faulty. Contact us and our pharmacist will advise you. Some products also come with a manufacturer’s warranty. This is in addition to your legal rights.
EU notice on your legal guarantee
This is the official EU notice on the legal guarantee of conformity. The law requires us to show it, and it may not be changed.

Text of the EU notice
LEGAL GUARANTEE
Minimum two-year legal guarantee protection for goods sold in the European Union.
Consumers can claim their rights under the legal guarantee of conformity, for example if goods:
- do not match the description;
- do not function as intended.
Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity which existed when the goods were delivered, and which becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. Sellers in such a situation are required to offer:
- free repair or free replacement;
- in some cases, a price reduction or full reimbursement.
Some countries have a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year.
For more information on your rights in a specific country, scan the QR code below or ask the seller.
europa.eu/youreurope/guarantees
What to do if you receive non-conforming goods:
- Contact the seller as soon as possible to report the issue;
- Provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt, invoice, or bank statement.
Sellers and producers may also offer commercial guarantees, which apply independently from the legal guarantee. For example, you may see this GARAN label representing a commercial guarantee of durability offered by the producer at no additional cost and covering the entire good.
11. Refunds
- We refund to the same payment method you used, unless you agree otherwise.
- We do not charge any fee for a refund.
- We do not give credit notes instead of refunds.
- Once we process your refund, the time it takes to reach your account depends on your bank or card provider.
Our Returns and Refunds Policy sets out refund times in full.
12. Our responsibility to you
- If we break these terms or are negligent, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result. Loss is foreseeable if it is obvious it will happen, or if we both knew it might happen when our contract started.
- We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, or for business losses. Our website is for personal use.
- Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your legal rights in relation to the items we sell.
Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather or disruption to courier services. If this happens, we will tell you and do what we can to reduce the delay. If the delay is serious, you can cancel and we will refund you in full for anything you have not received.
13. Your privacy
- We keep your details confidential.
- We use your personal data only as set out in our Privacy Policy. It explains what we collect and why, how long we keep it, who we share it with (for example our payment providers and couriers) and your rights under data protection law.
- We only send you marketing messages if you have agreed to receive them. You can unsubscribe at any time.
14. Complaints
If you are unhappy with anything, please tell us first. We want to put it right.
- Email info@laoispharmacy.com, phone 057 866 1999, or write to us at the pharmacy address above. Please include your order number.
- We will look into your complaint and reply as quickly as we can.
If your complaint is about the professional conduct of a pharmacist or how our pharmacy is run, you can also contact the PSI. The PSI accepts complaints in writing. See Complaints and concerns on psi.ie. The PSI does not deal with commercial matters such as prices.
For information on your consumer rights, visit the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) at ccpc.ie. If we cannot resolve a dispute about a purchase, you may be able to use the small claims procedure in the District Court.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes in the law, in regulatory requirements, or in how we run our service. The terms in force when you place your order apply to that order. The date at the top of this page shows when these terms were last updated.
16. Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of Ireland. You can bring legal proceedings in the Irish courts. If a court decides that part of these terms is not valid, the rest of the terms stay in force.
