Is Mounjaro covered by the HSE or the Drug Payment Scheme?
Not for weight loss. Mounjaro is not currently reimbursed by the HSE when it is prescribed for weight management, so it is supplied on a private prescription and you pay the full price. That also means the Drug Payment Scheme, which caps most families at €80 a month, does not apply to Mounjaro for weight loss, because the scheme only covers medicines on the HSE reimbursement list. If Mounjaro is prescribed for type 2 diabetes, different rules can apply, so ask your GP or our pharmacist.
